Animals # 2 Rhinoceros
I see no reason why this should be called Rhinoceros. Except that it's a song title that requires a home. The Smashing Pumpkins were some band when they first came through. Don't let anybody tell you otherwise.
Siamese Dream was the album I caught up with them on. I found it quite astonishing. I was working in Germany at the time and turned my best mate over there onto them. He became a complete obsessive for years thereafter. We saw them play in Cologne and it's still one of the best gigs I've ever seen. Melon Collie and Billy's ludicrous ego tipped it over for me eventually but I find it useful to remind myself occasionally of how great they were, unfashionable as that might be.
Gish is a fantastic album. It was all downhill from their as far as I was concerned.
