15th December 1939 Cindy Birdsong

I heard today that Cindy Birdsong, one of the finest named people in all of Soul, was 75. She replaced Florence Ballard in the original Supremes after a number of years in Patti LaBelle & the Bluebelles. I was amazed to hear that in the latter years of this incarnation of the band neither she nor Mary Wilson was allowed to sing on many of their records. This was remedied when Dana Ross left for a solo career and Jean Terrell replaced her and The Supremes made many of their very best singles. Like this one! Happy Birthday!
