The 100 Best Garage Band Songs Countdown # 5 60-51

 60 The Brogues

From Merced, California.

59. Nirvana

One of the great British psychedelic records.

58. Amboy Dukes

One of the great silly records. Where Ted Nugent started.

57. The Pretty Things

56.  The Starfires

A Bobby Gillespie recommendation.

55. Grass Roots

They went on to have quite a healthy career but this is my favourite song of theirs. A take on Under My Thumb.

54. The Purple Gang

1967 jug band psych. Remarkably it was banned by the BBC.

53. The Equals

Perhaps a lot of this isn't classically Garage. But it sounds like it came out of a garage to me.

52. The Barbarians

Perhaps Are you a boy or are you a girl? would be the one to pick but this is just so beautifully odd.

51. Moby Grape

The second 'grandma' tribute in this selection. Moby Grape were one of the few original San Francisco bands who genuinely sounded Garage. First track from their debut album.
