Song(s) of the Day # 473 Nadine Shah

There seems to be a lot of great upcoming musical talent in the area that I've landed up in. The North East of England.I first heard Nadine Shah yesterday evening in session on the radio. Quite immediate and with the same surety and poise of some of the great performers in the Rock and Roll canon. The bass, and drums on the track above are instantly gripping and then the voice comes in. The voice! Definitely a touch of Marianne Faithful, PJ, Siouxsie and Nick Cave about her but she is distinctively strong enough to deserve attention in her own right. And on many of the songs off her new album Fast Food, recently released, the lilt of her South Shields comes through loud and clear.A real talent. Goth. But in a good way.
