Song(s) of the Day # 632 Mercury Rev

As a music fan in the eighties and nineties you did what the weekly papers told you to do. As a result in 1991 I found myself trooping out to buy a copy of Mercury Rev's debut album Yerself is Steam which was being raved about by all and sundry. In blue vinyl. It's hardly been among my most played records since but I gave it a spin last night and was rewarded. In opening song Chasing a Bee the band sing about attempting to do just so by trapping the poor thing in a jar. It's a good a description of their sound as any. I care less for the records I've heard of theirs since but will be returning soon to this strange, particular album.
