Song of the Day # 1,415 The Yellow Melodies

Murcia, Spain's favourite sons and daughters Yellow Melodies are a late gift to me as 2017 wanes. They're one of the sure signs that the happiness is still there and always will be if you look hard enough. Their album of this year is full of sunny melodies sung in rather bad English accents that show a fondness for the simple pop genius of Syd Barrett and lots of guitar indie feyness that's come swimming down the pike in the intervening decades  accompanied by woozy organ and backing vocals going 'ba ba ba' and not really expecting to get into the charts because they know that that's not really what it's all about. Their album of this year Life deserves your attention if you prefer BMX Bandits to U2 and frankly, who doesn't? Oh and also, that is a band name to dream of!
